The fruition of the Sail Kites has been years in the making. The kites are an adaptation of the Patang, the traditional paper fighter kites of India – traditionally made from tissue paper and designed to have a short life span. Clemens wanted to reimagine these popular kites in a new material, so by drawing on retired resources and a lot of ingenuity – he was able to bring his own version to life.
As the kites are all cut, sewed and compiled by hand, finding the right people for the job wasn't an easy feat. Editions have been made by our friends in India, Clemens himself, and clever seamstresses in Sydney, AU. Each kite is unique from the next, and the colour combinations are 1/1.
